Review of Rampage: Delectably Destructive!

Rampage***

NO SPOILER SYNOPSIS:

A scientific experiment by a rogue company goes awry, pushing and provoking a Gorilla, a wolf and a croc into epic proportions to inflict disaster of equal measure on America.

NO SPOILER TAKE

“Rampage is a science fiction monster film”, reads the first line of its Wikipedia page. And that’s what exactly it is. This fun edge of the seat disaster flick has science, fiction and monsters coming at you in that order and there’s never a dull moment.

Based on the video game with the same name, director Brad Peyton gets to point almost immediately with Rampage and never quite lets the tempo down.

Dwayne Johnson as Davis Okoye, as a  primatologist is in control and looks quite convincing, carrying the film on his massive shoulders. Rest of the cast is alright but the show stealer is of course George – the albino Gorilla who grows into enormous size and goes on the rampage with his predator partners in crime.

What follows is a rollicking fun ride which comes with its cliches but doesn’t quite matter when you have 3 massive creatures pounding at the biggest buildings of the USA and turning them into dust.

Full credit to the computer graphics team for putting together a spectacular show of destruction that looks so real and dangerous. It grips you!

This is a film that tells you nothing new but shows you what you want to see.

Watch it on the big screen in shock and awe!

I am going with 3 stars
