As a TWA pilot, Cruise lives on the edge ensuring you stay on the edge of your seat too as he flirts with dangers of being in one of the biggest covert CIA operations in the history of America.
The film’s non linear narrative makes it that much more exciting. Cruise pulls off quite a Leo Dicaprio-ish act as he convincingly flies in and out of countries full of commies and hob nobs with a burgeoning drug cartel of Columbia including Pablo Escobar, no less.
Each scene is deftly handled with real time tension build up. In fact, the film’s quick and ever dynamic screenplay is at times hard to keep pace with and that’s a good thing.But a tad bad is the length that seems over indulgent at the end of it all because you have seen too much of it.
Although, trust me, you won’t come out of this one complaining. You will rather be blown away by its rigorous filmmaking and unrelenting life and times of a certain Barry Seal.So cruise along in this dangerous joy ride of the 80’s, you DO NOT want to miss!I am going with 4 stars.
