Ram Leela Review: Golis, Gaalis, Gulaal & Garba (****)

Ram Leela bears all the hallmarks of a Bhansali magnum opus. Lovers in heat, high on testosterone & trigger happy, fall in instant love & lust defying warring communities of Rajadis & Sanedos and there’s loads of tenson. So here are the ‘bullet’ points.

SLB effortlessly splashes colors of gunfire, gulaal & garba on the screen (bau saras). Ranveer as ‘Ram’ flaunts his abs, flirts with his Leela & delivers endearingly Gujju-tone lines grabbing every bit of your attenson (Bhaai-Bhaai). Deepika drops inhibitions & bullets with equal ease breaking into a garba and making out at every given opportunity (or the lack of it). Supriya Pathak as ‘Dhankor’ injects enough venom into this hot-bloodied raas-leela.

While this one’s surely got more libido and loins than Bhansali’s previous loves stories, Ram-Leela is one Romeo-Juliet adaptation that has more power than Gujarat’s goti-soda that doesn’t fizzle out too soon. Ambe maa ni kasam, go for it!
